Schools closed in Jammu, some districts of West Bengal, Odisha; check dates here

Due to cyclone, a few states have announced closure of schools as precautionary measures.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced that the primary and secondary schools in nine districts would remain closed between October 23-26 due to cyclone.

According to a notification, from Wednesday till October 26, the educational institutes will remain closed in the districts of North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata.

Similarly, in Odisha, Special Relief Commissioner DK Singh has directed the School and Mass Education department to close schools in 14 likely affected districts from October 23 to 25 as a precautionary measure.

Due to incessant rainfall in Bengaluru, the city’s Urban Deputy Commissioner, Jagadish G, has announced the closure of schools on October 23. A circular detailing the same was shared on social media site X.

Moreover, the Directorate of School Education has announced the closure of schools in Jammu (government/ private) between October 29-November 2 for pooja holidays.
