Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti 2019: Born on October 31, 1875, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India, was the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister. This senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) played an extremely important role in creating the Republic of India. He is also credited for leading the struggle for India’s Independence from the front.
A statesman and a barrister, Patel played an integral role while creating the new, united India. On his birth anniversary, here are scholarships offered in his name.
Sardar Patel Crisis Scholarship programme
The scholarship programme covers students requiring financial assistance, and in crisis. The aid is provided to students for managing their higher education expenses. The eligible candidates will get a scholarship varying from Rs 10,000 to 25,000.
Eligibility criteria: The student should have a single parent only (divorced, adopted, death of mother/ father). The private/ government school/ college students of classes 6 to 12 are eligible to apply for the scholarship programme. The candidates can apply for the scholarship within three years from the occurrence.

The scholarship support can be availed for a maximum of two years of education. The students will get the amount in the form of Demand Draft (DD). The candidates can apply through the website- spuvvn.edu.
Scholarship/ Fellowship programme offered by Sardar Patel University
DST- Inspire Fellowship: The candidates with a minimum of 65 per cent marks in the Master’s of Science (M.Sc) programme can apply for the fellowship programme. The first rank holders at university level examination (not an autonomous college level examination) of overall post-graduate program in Science/ Technology/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy can apply for the fellowship programme.
Council of Science and Industrial Research (CSIR fellowship programme): The candidates with a PhD or MD/ MS/ MDS programme can apply for the CISR Fellowship programme. The candidate applying for Research Associateship must have at least one research publication in a standard refereed journal as listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
Sardar Patel Higher Education Scholarships: The scholarship programme offered by the Communication Multimedia and Infrastructure, CMAI Association of India. Students in Class 12/ final year students of Bachelor’s program can apply for the scholarship programme.
The scholarship programme is available to students from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and North East states. The scholarship programme will be available between 100 to 10 per cent of the education fees for higher studies, in any of the AICTE, UGC approved higher institutes. Scholarship programme by Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai University
The scholarship is offered to the final year BE/ BTech students for the academic year 2018-19. The toppers from the final year will get an excellence award of Rs 1 lakh and two certificates worth Rs 50,000. The candidates need to get above 75 per cent in all semesters including performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
