Though Covid shocked the world, however, it also motivated students to take up the medical profession. Shruti Agrawal from Chhattisgarh was encouraged by the medical professionals who stood by the country in those testing periods. To work for society, Shruti decided to pursue an MBBS.

Cracking NEET UG 2024 in her first attempt and with regular schooling helped her develop her overall personality. “Focusing on school studies and NEET UG preparation simultaneously is tough, but it helps long-term retention of topics. Being present in regular school helps students in ways beyond NEET exams,” said Agrawal who scored 701 marks out of 720.

NEET UG Preparation

For her preparation, Shruti trusted Allen Online Programme and focused on NCERT books and their course modules. “I used to come back from school at around 1:30 pm, have lunch, and rest for a while. My coaching classes used to start at 8:30 pm. I used to revise the entire chapter I learned that day and complete the homework as well. For bi-weekly tests, I used to make a revision timetable for the topics that I need to study and revise before the exam day,” she said.

On the day of the exam

On the day of the NEET UG examination, she focused on every question and tried to read them at least thrice. She recalls that this way she was able to tackle difficult questions.

“NEET exams get tricky and require a strong understanding of concepts. I focused on simplifying the questions and avoiding any unnecessary confusion. I practised the previous year’s questions to understand the pattern and improve my accuracy,” she said, adding that a day before the exam she was nervous.

“However, my parents, teachers, and mentors helped me calm down, and explained that stressing about things beyond control was useless. I did my best and had faith in myself. My parents told me to focus on doing my best and not worry about the results,” said Shruti who secured 572 rank in the medical examination.
