Karnataka Social Welfare Minister H C Mahadevappa on Thursday announced that the state government has ordered to increase the incentive funds for SC, and ST Candidates studying in national institutes. Earlier the fund was Rs 1 lakh which is now proposed to be Rs 2 lakh.
The change will implemented for students studying in national institutes like IIT/IIM/IISC/NIT. This will lead to higher educational achievements of students from scheduled communities, he said in an official release.
“The government has also decided to provide Rs 25 lakh as one-time aid to SC students who score more than 95 per cent marks in the PUC examination and get a management quota seat in MBBS course through the NEET entrance examination,” said Mahadevappa.

Students from scheduled castes pursuing MBBS degrees who achieve more than 60 per cent marks in their first year will receive an incentive of Rs 25 lakh. Mahadevappa also emphasized that SC/ST students at institutions like IIT and IIM should actively participate in nation-building to contribute to the development of a prosperous and powerful nation.
