Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), faced criticism from candidates, parents, and subject experts over several discrepancies in the JEE Main 2025 Answer Key for April session. These included allegedly incorrect answer keys, wrongly recorded responses, and, in some instances, blank response sheets.

‘Always followed a transparent examination process’: What NTA said in its statement

In multiple tweets, the NTA said that the agency takes utmost care in keeping the examination process transparent. The tweet reads, “NTA has always followed a transparent examination process, which allows candidates to view their recorded responses as soon as the provisional answer keys are released. The NTA considers every challenge to the provisional Answer Key with utmost seriousness.”

Adding further, the agency said that the idea behind publishing a provisional answer key is to ensure that no anomaly remains in the assessment process. It said, “The answer key challenge process is a key part of ensuring a fair and reliable system for all candidates. The purpose of the “Answer Key Challenge” process is to remove any anomaly and ensure fairness.”

Clarifying further NTA stated that the answer keys uploaded for JEE (Main) Session 2 were only provisional and that the final answer keys had not been published yet. They added that the score would be determined solely on the basis of the final answer key. Adding that drawing conclusions based on the provisional answer keys is not desirable.

In an attempt to alleviate doubt and concern among candidates, the agency tweeted, “NTA would like to advise and inform candidates that they should not to be misled by reports that create unnecessary doubt and anxiety.”
