The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur’s C3iHub, Union Home Ministry and the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under MHA have collaborated to introduce a six-month residential course on cybersecurity titled ‘Cyber Commando Training Programme’.

The programme aims to establish trained cyber commandos across India, and Central Police Organizations (CPOs) to tackle the increasing cybersecurity challenges. These experts will play a critical role in fortifying digital infrastructures and responding to cyber incidents.

A total of 38 officials from Central and State police forces will participate in this intensive training, which offers hands-on experience across various aspects of cybersecurity. The training will enable these candidates to manage security threats, respond to incidents, and implement robust defence mechanisms across critical sectors.

The launch of this programme represents a vital step in advancing India’s cybersecurity capabilities, aiming to equip professionals with the necessary expertise to address the complex and evolving cyber landscape, claimed the press release.

Prof Amalendu Chandra, Acting Director of IIT Kanpur, emphasised the importance of this initiative. He said, “The Cyber Commando Training Program is a crucial step in India’s efforts to protect its digital infrastructure. The collaboration between C3iHub, I4C, and the Union Home Ministry reflects our shared commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce capable of responding to the growing sophistication of cyber threats facing the country.”
