The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) from next academic session will be starting a new undergraduate programme in engineering – BTech in Metrology. Admission to the BTech programme will be through the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main). Unlike other programmes at the university where IPU Common Entrance Test (IPUCET) scores are used to admit students, admission to this programme will only be through JEE Main scores. IP University announces ‘weekend-mode’ PG in Mass Communication The University is planning to sign an agreement with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to launch and start the BTech programme in Metrology from the next academic session. Saying that metrology is the backbone of basic engineering and the programme is at present available at only two-three IITs, GGSIPU said: “IP University will be the first university in the country to introduce this programme.” “The programme will be a blend of the Indian Knowledge System to the modern marvels of engineering,” it added. The Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof (Dr) Mahesh Verma while announcing the launch of the BTech programme urged for greater student participation in these fields that form the backbone of innovation and industrial growth. From the 2025 session, IPU introduced an orphan children quota, in addition to the existing Single Girl Child quota. The Single Girl Child Quota was in 2024. Under the orphan children quota, one additional seat will be reserved in each university schools and programmes, and the selected students will be eligible for a 100 per cent fee waiver under IPU’s EWS scheme. IPU has launched an admission chatbot service. The admission chatbot service seeks to provide instant answers to queries related to admissions in various programmes for the new session.
