Viral video: YouTuber feeds chicken momos to cow in Gurgaon; five Gau Raksha Dal members assault him, arrested
The row began on Saturday when Chandna (29), a resident of Gurgaon who runs multiple social media channels as 'Doperman' or 'God Polaris', filmed himself feeding a cow.
Days after YouTuber Ritik Chandna was arrested and later released on bail for feeding chicken momos to a stray cow at the HSVP Market in Gurgaon’s Sector 56, five Gau Raksha Dal members were arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting Chandna.
The row began on Saturday when Chandna (29), a resident of Gurgaon who runs multiple social media channels as ‘Doperman’ or ‘God Polaris’, filmed himself feeding a cow.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Chandna purchasing a plate of chicken momos from a roadside vendor, eating a few and offering the remaining pieces to a cow. The video was shared on social media by members of Bajrang Dal and Gau Raksha Dal and drew widespread condemnation.
Chaman Khatana (45), one of the five men arrested on Thursday, is both a member of Gau Raksha Dal and Bajrang Dal. Police identified the others as Rohit (29), Lalit (25) Teshv (22) and Ayushman (20).
Speaking to The Indian Express before his arrest on Thursday, Khatana said he first spotted the video on Saturday evening. He then rallied associates and confronted Chandna at his home, demanding that the video be deleted. Chandna refused and allegedly claimed that he would feed a cow mutton next on livestream.
The next day, Khatana and his associates again arrived at Chandna’s residence and confronted his father, who works at a footwear shop. They went on to drag both Chandna and his father onto the street. While filming them, the accused allegedly paraded the two, slapped and thrashed Chandna, asked about his funding, and threatened that he would be killed unless he apologised publicly. In a subsequent video that was live-streamed, surrounded by the accused, Chandna apologised.
“We beat him lightly considering how he insulted the cow, our mother. We had to protect our faith,” said Khatana.

On Monday, based on a complaint filed by Khatana at the Sector 56 police station, Chandna was booked under sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 325 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) of the BNS. He was arrested the same day and released on bail soon after.
During questioning, police said Chandna claimed that a viewer suggested to him to feed the remaining momos to the cow. He also alleged that he was paid Rs 3,000 by an unidentified person, who participated in the livestream, to boost views.
On Wednesday, Chandna’s father filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR against Khatana and others under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 190 (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. “Both cases are being probed. No one will be permitted to take law into their own hands — be it through assaults, threats or disruptions to communal harmony,” a Gurgaon Police spokesperson said.
