The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad was established in 2015 as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute began with just 120 students in July 2015, and it aims to become a multi-disciplinary institution with 5000 students by its 10th year.
The growth is also seen in its placement data, which shows that the batch size has increased from 104 in 2018-19 to 250 by 2022-23. The batch size for BTech courses has seen an upward tick since the inception of the institute. Total number of BTech students increased from 104 to 106 in 2019-20, and then jumped to 163 in 2020-21 and 251 in 2021-22, and then dipped to 250 in 2022-23.

Despite the Covid pandemic, the number of registered companies jumped to 110 in 2020-21 and 215 in 2021-22. However, the number decreased to 158 in 2022-23 academic batch, which might be a result of the global economic slowdown.
The average CTC has also seen a slow increase this year as it increased from Rs 13.93 lakh per annum in 2021-22 to Rs 13.95 lakh per annum in 2022-23, which might also be a result of the global economic slowdown. The average CTC has seen an increase over the years, though. It increased from Rs 8.44 lakh per annum in 2018-19 to Rs 9.93 lakh per annum in 2019-20 and then to Rs 11.42 lakh per annum in 2020-21.
In the 2022-23 batch, ICICI Bank has made a maximum of 20 offers this year. The highest total package was Rs 46.15 lakh for 2022-23, and the overall average CTC offered for the batch of 2023 was Rs 13.95 lakh.
Additionally, in the 2022-23 batch, a total of 38 students were given pre-placement offers. This is the highest on-campus PPO thus far at IIT Palakkad, the institute claims.
Interestingly, the number of students choosing to study further has also increased this year. The number increased from 16 in 2019-20 to 20 in 2020-21, then decreased to 12 in 2021-22 but once again increased to 28 in 2022-23.
