Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has rescheduled its placement to January 6 due to inclement weather and flooding in Chennai.
The placements were suspended after day 1 (December 1) and have now been rescheduled for Jan 6-16, 2016.
“Companies have been informed about the interviews being postponed. All companies have been very understanding and have responded positively and assured that they will definitely come and recruit from IIT Madras despite the disruption, ” said V Babu, placement advisor at IIT Madras.
This decision was taken in consultation with student representatives, Prof V Babu, placement advisor, director Bhaskar Ramamurthi and dean of students Sivakumar.
The first five days, till January 10, will have two sessions per day (7 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 11 pm). There will be no interviews on January 11, while January 12-14 will have one session per day (10 am to 5 pm), the IIT statement said.
On Dec 1, IIT Madras received five international offers from six companies in the graveyard session (beginning 12 in the midnight). The forenoon session saw 85 offers coming from 18 companies while there were 26 offers from eight companies in the afternoon session. A total of 117 offers from 31 companies in the 2015-16 placement season.
Invitations are being sent to the companies informing them of the revised schedule. The students and the Placement team are optimistic that the event will be a success.
