The other IIT Madras programmes that saw an increase over 10 per cent are BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (11.8192157 per cent), Electrical Engineering (10.28501229 per cent) and Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (10.07574847 per cent).
As per the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) report 2025, a total of 26547 students showed interest in BTech in Computer Science and Engineering this year. The Artifical Intelligence and Data Science programme which started as a new course last year, were chosen by 23015 candidates this year. The new course has gained popularity in a year as it became the second most popular course in IIT Madras this year.
The other courses which were more popular than the remaining were the four-year Electrical Engineering programme which had 22443 interested students and Mechanical Engineering which caught eyes of 19652 students.
