NIRF Ranking 2024 Engineering College: Continuing its winning streak, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has again grabbed the number one position under the best engineering colleges category. Like previous years, this time too, IITs have dominated the top 10 list of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2024 in the engineering category as nine out of 10 are IITs and the one is NIT.
The ninth edition of NIRF Rankings was released today by the Ministry of Education in New Delhi. The lineup for the top 5 engineering colleges has almost remained the same with IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur retaining their top four positions respectively.

This year, IIT Kharagpur has climbed from sixth to fifth spot, whereas IIT Roorkee slipped from fifth to sixth spot. IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli have continued to retain their seventh, eighth and ninth spot, followed by IIT BHU Varanasi at the 10th spot — which was last year awarded to Jadavpur University.

A year before that, in 2022, the first five spots remained the same as the 2021 rankings. With IIT Madras at the top position, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay bagged the second and third ranks, respectively. IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur too retained their previous years’ rankings of fourth and fifth spot, and IIT Roorkee at sixth, followed by IIT Guwahati at the seventh spot.
