IIT Kanpur introduces new online Masters degree programmes

Application for the new programmes can be done by March 31. The programmes will have a 60-credit curriculum.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) today introduced new eMasters degree progammes in climate finance, business finance, fintech and quantitative finance. These programmes are designed to create ‘future-ready’ finance professionals and cater to the growing demand for skilled talent in the finance industry. IIT Kanpur eMasters applications for the July 2024 batch are open till March 31. Interested candidates can apply at the official website — emasters.iitk.ac.in/economics-and-finance-masters-degree.

The duration of the programme is 1-3 years. Admission to these courses do not require a GATE score.

The eMasters in financial technology and management, according to an IIT-Kanpur statement, blends fintech with traditional finance, giving professionals a deep understanding of technology’s impact on finance.

While the eMasters in quantitative finance and risk management focuses on improving risk management skills through research and practical training, the eMasters in business finance help professionals advance in finance and economics, equipping them to make strategic decisions, the institute said.

The eMasters programme in climate finance and sustainability seeks to meet the rising demand for expertise in carbon management and ESG, offering specialised training in finance and environmental sustainability. 

These programmes are offered by the department of management sciences and department of economic sciences. Students will be provided classes in live interactive weekend classes and self-paced learning. 

The programmes will have a 60-credit curriculum, tailored for the industry, and allows for credit transfers towards higher education opportunities like MTech and PhD programmes at IIT-Kanpur.
