A total of 16 students from the class of 2023 have completed their BTech in less semesters than the usual eight semesters. (Photo source: IIT GN) The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT GN) Saturday hosted its 12th convocation in which a total of 456 students graduated.
Degrees have been awarded to 73 PhD students, 43 MTech students, 1 BTech-MTech Dual Degree student, 108 MSc students, 23 MA students, 8 PGDIIT students, 3 BTech Dual Major students, 196 BTech students, and 1 BSc (Engineering) student.
This year, 48 students received 58 medals, including 42 gold medals and 16 silver medals for excellence in various categories such as academics, outstanding research, innovation, leadership, social service, sports, arts and culture, and so on. A total of 16 students from the class of 2023 have completed their BTech in less semesters than the usual eight semesters.
This is the first time the institute awarded verifiable and tamper-proof digital degrees, mark sheets, and medal certificates in USB drives. In addition to this, IIT Gandhinagar has also uploaded these digital degrees into students’ DigiLocker, which they will be able to access and download in PDF format with their Aadhaar authentication from anywhere.

In terms of placements, a total of 252 companies participated in the campus recruitment this year, and about 80 per cent of BTech students (who registered for placements) were recruited in various sectors such as Software/IT, Engineering and Technology, Research, Management, Finance, Consulting and EdTech, among others.
The overall average salary has seen an increase of 27 per cent, while the median of the salary increased by 18 per cent. The average and median package for undergraduate programmes has seen an increase of 25 per cent. Notably, the average salary of Dual Major BTech has seen an increase of around 50 per cent.
Nearly 12 per cent of total graduating students and 13 per cent of graduating BTech students have opted to pursue higher studies. Students will be pursuing programmes such as MTech, Masters, MS, MSc, PGP, and PhD in various top universities or institutes such as Arizona State University, USA; Boston University, USA; Carnegie Mellon University, USA; Georgia Institute of Technology, USA; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA; New York University, USA; University of Oxford, UK; University of Victoria, Canada; IIMs; IITs; and so on.
Some of the top recruiters at IITGN during this year include Adani Group, Atlas Copco GECIA, D E Shaw India, Rippling, Zomato, Media.net, Texas Instruments, Rakuten Japan, Oracle, Barclays, Accenture Japan, Amazon, Axis Bank, GAIL, Mathworks, Nike, among others.
