The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) on September 20, held its second convocation ceremony for the graduating batches of 2022-2024 and 2023-2025. The institute conferred degrees upon students in its flagship postgraduate, doctoral, and executive education programmes. As many as 932 PG students, 31 PhD students and 25 students from the seventh batch of VLFM were also awarded degrees in the IIM Mumbai second convocation today.
The convocation also witnessed the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, where 16 senior alumni were honoured for their contributions in their professional fields, alongside nine young achievers who were recognised for their impact in diverse domains.
Dr PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the convocation address. In his speech, Dr Mishra urged the graduating batches of 2022-2024 and 2023-2025 to pursue excellence with responsibility and to use their education for the service of both industry and society.
Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIM Mumbai, and Founder and Chairman of Allcargo Group, lauded the institute’s role in shaping globally minded leaders. “IIM Mumbai continues to nurture responsible, innovative, and entrepreneurial graduates who can contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” he said.
In his Director’s Report, Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari highlighted the institute’s progress since its transition from NITIE to IIM Mumbai in 2023, noting achievements such as the sixth position in the NIRF 2025 rankings, the launch of new MBA and executive programmes, international collaborations, and research recognition. He expressed pride in the institute’s highest-ever number of PhD graduates – 31 scholars this year.
The ceremony also saw the distribution of medals and special awards to students excelling in academics, leadership, innovation, and social impact. Industry stalwarts and distinguished guests joined the celebrations, underscoring IIM Mumbai’s growing influence in academia, policy, and industry.
