GATE Result Released 2025 Updates: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) on March 19 declared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 result. The recruitment-cum-admission test for engineering graduates was held between February 1 and February 16 in multiple sessions. GATE was held for 30 papers in total. The candidates who appeared for the test between February 1 and February 16 will be able to check the GATE 2025 results at gate2025.iitr.ac.in and goaps.iitr.ac.in by logging in at the portal.
GATE 2025 exam was held for 30 papers in total. The GATE 2025 response sheets were released on February 27. Candidates were allowed to raise objections regarding the answer keys from February 27 to March 1. The GATE 2025 scorecards will be available for free download from March 28 to May 31. From June 1 to December 31, candidates can avail the GATE 2025 score cards by paying a fee of Rs 500 per test paper.
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) has announced the results for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Candidates who took the exam can check and download their results by visiting the official website at gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
To access their results, candidates should visit the GOAPS portal or the official GATE website and enter their enrollment ID and password. The GATE 2025 scores will remain valid for three years from the date the results are announced.

Several public sector undertakings (PSUs), including Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Grid Controller of India Limited (GRID-INDIA), will use the GATE 2025 results for recruitment.
NPCIL will consider GATE scores from several engineering disciplines, including Civil Engineering (CE), Chemical Engineering (CH), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Electrical Engineering (EE), Instrumentation Engineering (IN), and Mechanical Engineering (ME). Meanwhile, GRID-INDIA will specifically use the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper for their recruitment process.
Additionally, a valid GATE 2025 score can be used for admission to various academic programmes. These include Master’s and direct doctoral programmes in fields such as engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities. GATE scores are also accepted for doctoral programmes in relevant branches of these disciplines, at institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other government agencies.
A significant development in the admission process for MTech students at the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) Department of IIT Kanpur is that, for the first time, the department will be admitting students through the GATE 2025 examination.
Candidates should note that the GATE 2025 scorecards will be released only for those who will clear the cut-off scores for their respective papers.
Clearing GATE does not ensure automatic admission, scholarships, or job placement. Admission to institutes depends on their individual eligibility criteria, and meeting the GATE cutoff alone is not sufficient. Additionally, qualifying GATE does not guarantee recruitment in public sector undertakings (PSUs), as selections are based on separate criteria set by each organization.
GATE 2024 saw a 23% increase in registrations compared to the previous year, with around 6.70 lakh candidates enrolling for 29 subjects. Of these, 5.17 lakh candidates appeared for the exam at over 500 test centers across India, recording an overall attendance of 77%. The All India Rank (AIR) 1 in 2024 was secured by Raja Majhi from Bardhaman, West Bengal.

–If a candidate wants to pursue a master’s programme or wants to take admission through a direct process in the doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities.
–For doctoral programmes, only selected subjects are available as mentioned above, however, the institution a candidate will choose for the programme must be supported by the Ministry of Education or any other government agencies.
Additionally, for master courses, MTech students will get financial assistance of Rs 12,400 per month which is generally paid up for 22 months. In the case of doctoral programmes, the assistance of Rs 37,000 will be given for two years and Rs 42,000 per month from the third to the fifth year.

The computer science and information technology (CS) paper has remained one of the most-registered subjects in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in the last five years. Mechanical engineering and civil engineering are also on the list of the most-opted subjects.
In 2024, as many as 1,52,652 students applied to appear for the Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) paper — the highest in all subjects. The maximum mark obtained in CS was 90 last year and the lowest was -13.33. The maximum score obtained was 1000 and the lowest was -96. Of the 1,52,652 students registering in CS, as many as 1,23,967 appeared and only 21,949 could qualify.

The first GATE was held on February 26, 1983 to select candidates for all post graduate engineering courses at five IITs (Delhi, Bombay, Kharagpur, Kanpur and Madras) and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. These courses which led to Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology, were of three semesters duration (18 months).

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, 21-year-old Piyush Kumar improved his Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) rank from 530 in 2023 to AIR 1 this year. His potion to success, he claims, was ensuring that all his concepts are clear.
Kumar is a final year student of BTech CSE from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. He had been preparing for GATE for the past 15-16 months. When he appeared for GATE 2023, he hadn’t put in as much effort in preparation, so he decided to change his approach towards the exam this year.
“I sat and looked back at what were the mistakes that I was making last year. I identified my weaknesses and worked harder in those areas. When I practised mock tests, I ensured that I did not miss out on those chapters which seemed difficult to me last year,” he told indianexpress.com.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee recently shared the admit cards with candidates via emails who registered for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Amid the bulk mailing process, the conducting body erroneously sent incorrect email salutations to students. Candidates who received the incorrect emails shared their grievances on social media.
The message read, “Dear IDLI CHUTNEY NO SAMBHAR,” attracted various shares and views from the people. Many shared the message on their social media accounts.
–In MS Packaging Technology at IP University, earlier, only CET and CUET were considered. This year, GATE, UGC-NET, and CSIR-NET have also been included, While in the case of BS Packaging Technology, CET and CUET JEE Advanced, JEE Mains, and NEET scores will be considered.
The GATE 2025 scorecards will be available for download on March 28, 2025. Candidates can access their scorecards by logging into the official portals at gate2025.iitr.ac.in and goaps.iitr.ac.in.
In order to check their GATE 2025 results, candidates are required to fill in their GATE enrolment ID or their email ID and their GATE 2025 application portal password, as set during the application process in order to check their results.
GATE scores can now be used for financial assistance in master's and doctoral programs across various disciplines, including engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities. GATE 2025 scorecard will display the candidate's marks for each section of the exam, along with the overall score and All India Rank (AIR). It will only be issued to applicants who meet the cut-off score. There will be negative marking if a candidate selects the wrong answer in a multiple-choice question (MCQ), marks will be deducted. For a 1-mark MCQ, ⅓ mark will be deducted for an incorrect response, while for a 2-mark MCQ, ⅔ mark will be deducted. However, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers in Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Additionally, partial marking is not applicable to any question.
