ICAI CA May 2024 Exams: The Delhi High Court on April 8 dismissed the plea to revise the Chartered Accountants (CA) exams. CA aspirants had knocked the court’s door requesting that the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) be asked to postpone the CA May 2024 exams.
“This court is surprised that such a request has been made,” the court was quoted saying by LiveLaw. “For all the aforesaid reason, it is clear on the face of it that the petition is bereft of substance.”
The Court also added that no CA exam is clashing with the voting dates, and asked students to balance their preparation in the right way, if they wish to case their vote.
As per the revised exam schedule, released by the ICAI, the CA intermediate group 1 will be held on May 3, 5 and 9 instead of May 7, the group 2 will be held on May 11, 15 and 17, instead of May 9, 11 and 13. Final exam group 1 will be conducted on May 2, 4 and 8, instead of May 6. Group 2 of CA Final exam will be held on May 10, 14 and 16, instead of May 8, 10 and 12. CA exam for the foundation level will be held on June 20, 22, 24 and 26.
However, CA aspirants are unhappy with the change as they claim that since the Lok Sabha elections are also scheduled in May 2024, some students who live away from their homes will not be able to go back home to vote.
Child activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai was supporting the CA students in presenting this matter in front of the court. A few other practicing CAs are also supporting aspirants in this fight against the CA May 2024 exams.
