Central University of Karnataka, Kadaganchi, will commence admission for its undergraduate programmes from May 21 this year. Currently, the university offers 15 under graduate programmes like BSc in Physics, BSc in Chemistry, BSc in Life Sciences, BTech in Electronics and Communication, BTech in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor’s of Business Administration to name some.
The admission to these UG programmes will be held through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In 2022, the centrally run Central University of Karnataka received 95,964 applications through CUET. This year, CUK plans to conduct entrance exams for fifteen courses through CUET this year.
The duration of the programme depends from course to course. The BTech programmes are of 4 years or 8 semesters, BBA is of 3 years or 6 semesters and the BA or BSc courses are of 8 semesters or 4 years with Research or of 6 semesters or 3 years without research.
The university provides a number of scholarships for financial help. Scholarships are given to students in every subject on the basis of availability of funds. Fee concession is also provided by the university in each department of the university according to the Ordinance of the university.
CUK has 12 schools namely – School of Business Studies, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Computer Sciences, School of Earth Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Legal Jurisprudence Studies, School of Life Sciences, School of School of Media Studies, School of Education and Training, School of Engineering and School of Humanities and Languages, and has 26 departments.
The university has two separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus. The hostel is allotted on the basis of merit-cum-reservation basis depending upon the intake of the number of students in the departments. Moreover, students from far off places will be given preference.
The Central University of Karnataka was established in 2009 under an Act of Parliament. It is one of the sixteen new Central Universities that was established by the Government of India during the UGC XI Plan Period. The Central University of Karnataka has territorial jurisdiction all over Karnataka.
