At present, most schools offer non-cash modes for fee payment.
Following the directives of Union Human Resource Minister Prakash Javadekar to encourage cashless payment, CBSE has told all affiliated schools to start collecting fee through online modes from January 1, 2017.
In a letter, CBSE secretary Joseph Emmanuel has directed the principals to introduce cashless ways for fees collection only through online.
Similarly, the CBSE has directed principals to make all the payments for their various services, procurements, wages to contractual workers and other transactions cashless.
The schools have also been asked to promote cashless transactions and motivate students to do the same by creating awareness among people about it. “Schools may interact with the parents during the parents teachers meeting to spread awareness about the benefits of non-cash transactions and motivate students of senior classes to undertake promotional initiatives in their neighbourhood to promote cashless transactions,” said the circular.

Usha Ram, DPS World Foundation, has welcomed the move. “It’s a good initiative as now everything is going cashless. Some parents might face problem but then they have to learn this method for their ward,” said Usha.
