What is the CBSE supplementary exam?
CBSE conducts supplementary exams for those students who have not been able to clear their one or two subjects. These exams are conducted a little after the CBSE board exam results. CBSE has decided to change the nomenclature of the ‘compartment’ exam to ‘supplementary’ exam based on recommendations made in the NEP 2020.
Who is eligible for CBSE supplementary exam?
CBSE supplementary exams are for those students who were unable to clear one or two exams this year. While Class 10 students will get an opportunity to improve their performance in two subjects in the supplementary exam, Class 12 students will get the chance to improve their scores only in one subject.

What is the subject for CBSE supplementary exams?
Syllabi and courses for the supplementary candidates will be the same as applicable to the candidates of full subjects.
Will I be promoted to Class 11 if I didn’t clear Class 10 exams?
The candidate who is placed in compartment in Class 10 shall be admitted provisionally to Class 11 till he takes in first chance compartmental examination to be held in July. His/her admission shall be treated as cancelled if he/she fails to pass at the first chance compartmental examination.
