The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 and Class 12 practical exam dates for the 2026 board exams. The practical exams, project works and internal assessment for the 2025-26 academic session will be conducted from November 6 to December 6, 2025 for winter-bound schools, and from January 1, 2026 for all the CBSE-affiliated schools in India and abroad.
The CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 theory exams will start on February 12, 2026.
All the schools following the winter-bound sessions have been requested prepare the final list of candidates and ensure that no student of the school whose name has not been submitted in the online LOC to the Board is allowed to appear for these practical examinations, project or internal assessment.
Class 10 internal assessment will only be conducted once, hence all schools should fill the marks for all candidates during the time schedule mentioned.
CBSE has asked the schools to contact the regional offices for the appointment of external examiners and observers and make sure that the practical examination, project work and internal assessment are held in time.
The school will have to create batches of 30 students each in every subject. Accordingly, the schools shall conduct the practical/project assessment of 30 students of one batch together for better management of practical/project assessment and uploading of marks.
To ensure fair and proper assessment, Practical Examinations/Project Assessment should invariably be conducted in two or three sessions in a day if the number of students is more than 30. It may be noted that since the size of batch/group is 30, therefore examination/assessment of each batch/group shall be conducted in one session together.
All students must appear for their practical examination or project assessment strictly as per the scheduled dates, CBSE said, adding that if a student is unable to attend on the assigned day for any reason, their exam or assessment may only be re-conducted within the officially notified schedule. No requests for extensions or special permissions beyond these dates will be accepted by the Board.
If a student remains absent for the Practical Examination, Project, or Internal Assessment in the current session, their status should be recorded as “Absent” in the online system. However, if the student’s examination or assessment is to be held on a different date within the approved schedule, they should be marked as “Re-scheduled” instead. Schools will be permitted to re-conduct the examination or assessment only for students marked as “Re-scheduled” and strictly within the prescribed timeframe.
