CBSE Board 2024-25 Exams: SOPs issued for Class 10, 12 practical exams

While the practical exams for the winter bound schools are underway and will get over on December 5, the practical exams in the regular session schools will be held between January 1 to February 14, 2025. The theory exams will start from February 15, 2025.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released standard operation procedures (SOPs) for the Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams. The practical exams, project works and internal assessment for the 2024-25 academic session will be held from January 1, 2025 for all the CBSE-affiliated schools in India and abroad. 

While the practical exams for the winter bound schools are underway and will get over on December 5, the practical exams in the regular session schools will be held between January 1 to February 14, 2025. The theory exams will start from February 15, 2025.

The board has also issued a list of Class 10, 12 SOPs for students and schools to bring in uniformity of instructions and to ensure the correctness of procedures

The board has requested the schools to comply with the directions given in the SOPs and complete the assessment as per schedule and ensure that correct marks are uploaded on the web-portal. 

The marks of practical examinations, project, internal assessments marks in respect of private students will be awarded as per the policy of the Board in accordance with the Examination Bye-laws. 

There will be an external examiner as well as an internal examiner, as per the policy for practical examinations or project assessment. No external examiner will be appointed by the Board for Class 10 but for Class 12, external examiners in each school for conducting practical examinations and project assessments in the specified subjects.

The schools have been asked to create batches of 30 students each in every subject of each batch together for better management of practical/project assessment and uploading of marks. To ensure fair and proper assessment, the practical exams should be conducted in two or three sessions in a day if the number of students is more than 30.
