Hyderabad-based designer Anand Kabra,28,came to Delhi to launch his new line at Aza in Crescent Mall, but spent the afternoon, brooding over the economic slowdown instead. His new line And The Mirror Crack’d—a collection of flamboyant cocktail saris, evening dresses in bright orange dominated the racks. Kabra, dressed in black, was busy counting the numbers. “The market crashed right in front of us when I had gone to New York for the Coterie trade show last winter. Nevertheless,I managed to make a decent sale,” shared Kabra. The slowdown, however isn’t reflecting in his creations,as blingy and flashy as always. Southern actor Shriya Saran poured over his clothes, clad in a heavily embellished black sari by Kabra. Noida based designer Raakesh Agarvwal’s collection Diffusion, was also unveiled yesterday by models pirouetting in pearly white outfits and asymmetrical dresses. Designer Anupama Dayal, dressed in a white dress dropped in joined by designer Renu Tandon and Divya Gurwara of Bridal Asia. Socialite Feroze Gujral fawned over Agarvwal’s outfits, while Aza advisor Sabeena Chopra and owner Alka Nissar entertained the guests. Agarvwal’s collection,Diffusion, begins at Rs 1,900 and offers blouses in white, cocktail dresses and saris. Kabra’s begin at Rs 12,000.
