Rahul Gandhi. On Saturday, Swagath Restaurant in Delhi’s Defence Colony had a surprise guest — Rahul Gandhi. He was there with a group of 15-20 people, including senior Supreme Court lawyer and Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi. Insiders said Rahul hosted a lunch for Singhvi and his team who had appeared for him in the defamation case. Also present were lawyer R S Cheema and Rahul’s aide Kanishka Singh.
After playing a key role in organising the Boris Johnson-Narendra Modi COP26 Glasgow summit in 2021, senior BJP leader and MP Sanjay Jaiswal is now working on the 2030 road map for the India-UK relations. Jaiswal, a doctor by profession, is working closely with the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. At the launch of ‘India, UK Health Care Alliance’ last week, Jaiswal announced that the government will soon bring a Bill in Parliament, proposing express visas for people coming to India for treatment. He said there will be dedicated lounges at all airports to deal with such cases.
The Central Public Works Department has started the process to procure artwork for the new Vice-President’s Enclave coming up on a 15-acre plot near the North Block. The CPWD recently invited artists to submit bids for providing over 200 pieces of framed works for the Vice-President’s residence, secretariat and guesthouse buildings. While the department has not specified the theme for the artworks, its RFP document says they “may be based on the cultural heritage of different states and UTs and any other theme appropriate to the stature of the building”.
