For many, MP Chandra Prakash Joshi's appointment as the new BJP chief of poll-bound Rajasthan came as a surprise. But party insiders say there have been enough signals that the party could choose him for the post to buy peace among different factions in the state unit. Joshi was asked by the party to initiate the debate on motion of thanks to the Presidential address in the Budget Session. He had hosted a dinner recently that was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, many Cabinet ministers and senior party leaders, among others. Joshi's dinner is now being seen by many 'celebrations in advance' for his new role. Leading The Front With the Supreme Court admitting the joint plea of 14 Opposition parties over the “arbitrary use” of the CBI and the ED against their leaders and fixing the hearing on April 5, the petition becomes the next major step for stitching a united front against the BJP. Sources said it was AAP's initiative whose leader Raghav Chadha called up almost every Opposition leader and also sent a copy of the petition to them. Finally, 14 parties agreed to sign the petition.
