Youth drowns in PMC swimming pool

A 24-year-old man drowned in Pune Municipal Corporation’s swimming pool at Taljai Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

A 24-year-old man drowned in Pune Municipal Corporation’s swimming pool at Taljai Hill on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Swapnil Pravin Gangurde,resident of Super Indira Nagar,Bibvewadi. A case of accidental death case has been registered at the Sahakarnagar police station.

“Primary investigation has revealed that Gangurde was sitting on the railing outside the swimming tank when he suddenly fell unconscious. He was rushed to a private hospital and pronounced dead on arrival around 2.50 pm,”senior police inspector Bajirao Bhosale said.

“Our team questioned the life guards at the swimming pool. They said that Gangurde fell unconscious while he was sitting on the railing and not when he was swimming. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of death. We have not received any complaints about the swimming tank from citizens,” said Bhosale.
