A revival of Vijay Tendulkar’s celebrated Ghashiram Kotwal,directed by Vijay Govind,will kick off the third edition of the Vinod Doshi Memorial Theatre Festival,which begins at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha,Kothrud,on February 22. The four-day event will feature one play every day at 7.30 p.m. The three other plays,specially commissioned for the festival,are Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar directed by Hidayat Sami,Mister Behram by Aniruddha Khutwad,Aasakta’s Gajab Kahani (adapted from Jose Saramago’s novel The Elephant’s Journey) by Mohit Takalkar and Mangutiwar Mayasabha by Irawati Karnik. The theater festival is a well-known platform for the promotion of young playwrights and directors.

For cinemabuffs,who have been accustomed to watch movies on the silver screen,here is a chance to see the world from behind the lens. Hemant Patil’s Marathi movie Kartabgar will start shooting in Pune,Satara and nearby locations soon. Talking about the film,Patil says,”The movie tells the story of a young man who goes against all odds fighting the villagers,society and political pressure,to perform his duties.” Directed by Siddharth More,the star cast includes actors like Sanjay Mohite,Madhu Kambikar,Dada Pasalkar,Mayur Lonkar,Mohan Joshi and Nagesh Bhosle. ” Based on a real life story,the film aims to act as a guiding force of the youth,” says actor Mohite.
