Week after attack,security up at KCB office

The Khadki Cantonment Board has beefed up security at its main office,schools and hospitals following the attack on the office of executive engineer Arun Godbole by some MNS activists last week.

The Khadki Cantonment Board has beefed up security at its main office,schools and hospitals following the attack on the office of executive engineer Arun Godbole by some MNS activists last week. Chief executive officer S V R Chandra Shekhar has,in a directive on Saturday,ordered that visitors to the office will be allowed only on special passes after 2 pm and no outside vehicles will be allowed inside the premises.

Security officer B D Farakte said he had been directed to review the security at the main office and some 12 other establishments of the board,including the Khadki Business Centre,schools and hospitals,on a regular basis. Some MNS activists had broken the furniture at Godbole’s office following a disagreement with the officer over the entry of heavy vehicles into Khadki cantonment area.

A security guard has been posted at the main entrance of KCB office from 10 am to 5 pm to register the entry of visitors. No visitors will be allowed before 10 am and 5 pm. The instructions also say that the entry of visitors will be restricted between 10.30 am and 2 pm,and in exceptional cases they will be allowed entry beyond visiting hours in consultation with section heads on basis of proper entry passes. Also,the visitors will be allowed entry only through the main entrance while the small gate from the basement parking will be closed from 10.30 am to 5 pm.

The chief executive officer has also directed that the registers maintained at the gate should be put up before him before 6 pm every day and that no vehicle be allowed into the premises except that of a VIP,vice-president and elected members of the cantonment board.

Office superintendent V R Panse the instructions would be followed strictly to prevent incidents like the attack on Godbole’s office.

Farakte has also been asked to report any untoward incident to police immediately.
