The 18th HK Firodia awards will witness the unveiling of a special website depicting films and acceptance speeches of winners of the award in the past. Professor Ragunath Mashelkar and industrialist Arun Firodia announced this at an event organised to announce this years awardees on Wednesday. The award is conferred on researchers for their work on fundamental sciences. As a practice,the award function is preceded by a short film that captures various facets of scientists while at work and personal environment. The website,to be unveiled on November 27,will have 18 short films and acceptance speeches of scientists. Mashelkar said the portal will enable junior scientists to interact with the winners of the award. This year,the awards will be conferred on MS Narasimhan,honorary fellow at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research,Bangalore and Dipankar Das Sarma of Indian Institute of Science,Bangalore. While Narasimhan is known for his work in the field of mathematics,Sarma is a renowned experimental physicist. Professor Man Mohan Sharma,emeritius professor of eminence,Institute of Chemical Technology,will be the chief guest.
