Walchand Cup tennis from Nov 8

The cream of the junior tennis talent across the country will vie for the top honours in the third edition of ‘Walchand Cup National Series Tennis Tournament’ to be held at Deccan Gymkhana courts from November 8-12.

The cream of the junior tennis talent across the country will vie for the top honours in the third edition of ‘Walchand Cup National Series Tennis Tournament’ to be held at Deccan Gymkhana courts from November 8-12.

The All-India Tennis Association (AITA) tournament is being organised under the aegis of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA),said a press release. Walchandnagar Industries Ltd. as a part of their ongoing centenary celebrations have sponsored the All-India Junior Ranking (U-16) boys & girls Tennis Tournament for the third year,it said.

Deccan Gymkhana which is equipped with 11 tennis courts (seven all-weather hard courts and four clay courts) are the hosts for the tournament. “This effort provides a platform to local players to participate in National & International tournaments”,said Nitin Joshi,tournament Director.

A large number of nationally ranked players will be participating in this tournament, said Joshi.

Also,the local talent will also have an opportunity to compete with provision for entry in the main draw through wild card entries and through qualifying rounds. A total of around 150 players would compete in this tournament for the prestigious title,said the release.

The launch of the tournament will be held on Deccan Gymkhana Courts on Sunday,November 7 at 6 PM followed the draws release.
