Vikram Pillay Academy trounced Super XI to enter the semifinals of the Maharashtra Hockey League,beating them 10-2 at the Ammunition Factory Ground,Khadki yesterday.

Vikram Pillay Academy trounced Super XI to enter the semifinals of the Maharashtra Hockey League,beating them 10-2 at the Ammunition Factory Ground,Khadki yesterday. Vinod Pillay ran circles around the Super XI defenders,scoring an unbelievable double hat-trick to lead his team to a resounding victory. Pillay scored his first goal in the 23rd minute,after Vikram Yadav and Shashi Pillay had given VPA a 2-0 lead with goals in the 10th and 16th minutes. He went on to find the back of the net on five more occasions,scoring in the 29th and 47th and then followed up

Hrishikesh Bhondwe and Alvin Alexander’s goals,smashing in three more in the last six minutes of the match.

His brother Vikas Pillay too performed brilliantly in the midfield,setting up seven of the ten goals that VPA scored.

Super XI got a couple of consolations goals through Santosh Musale,who scored in the 35th minute off a pass from Vinay Baramatikar,then netted a penalty corner in the 53rd.

The huge margin of victory ensured that Vikram Pillay Academy wentthrough to the semifinals on better goal difference,having outscored rivals Friends Union by six goals.

They now take on Pune City Police in today’s semifinal match,while the other semifinal will be played between Central Railways and Railway Police.
