Veteran journalist and founder editor of Rohini magazine Vasant Kane (90) died on Friday night.

Kane was admitted to a private hospital since January 19. He died in the hospital around 9.45 pm on Friday. Kane’s body was donated to a hospital as per his wish.

Kane started his career in a weekly Jwala in Ahmednagar. He started Rohini in 1947,which was a unique magazine devoted to marriage-related activities and gets published from Pune. He also started a daily Sandhya in 1952. Kane was instrumental in founding Brihan Maharashtra District Newspaper Editors’ Organisation and Maharashtra State District Newspaper Cooperative Organisation. He is survived by son Ashok,daughter-in-law Vibhavari,a grandson and a granddaughter.
