Varsity’s plan to install route maps yet to take off

Executive engineer of Estate Department,R V Patil,said, “Two weeks after we announced this plan,a guard was murdered on the varsity premises. Our plan to put up maps had to be put on hold. The entry and exit points were made one-way and the maps that we had prepared did not hold any relevance. We cannot put up these maps as they will only confuse people. Now,we are waiting for the security committee’s final decision on one-ways. If they decide to make one-ways permanent,we will have to prepare new maps or else we can go ahead with our old plan.”

“Now,the need for maps is even more as the entry and exit roads have been made one-way. There are only certain fixed routes that we can take. We’re new here and barely know route to canteen,library and other departments. Finding the way,especially during evening hours,is very difficult as there are very few students and passersby to ask for directions,”said Prashant Gupta,a student.

As per the earlier plan,as many as 19 maps will be put up at various spots inside the campus including three entrance gates to help visitors and students find their way inside the campus.
