Rohit Jadhav has been invited to be a part of the United Nations Youth Assembly to be held in New York.

Rohit Jadhav,a BCom graduate from the Indira Institute of Management, has made the city proud. Jadhav has been invited to attend the 11 th Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations headquarters in New York,USA. “The selection process for this programme needs anyone to present an idea to the UN programme on a topic of my choice so I decided to go ahead and express my views on how globalisation has lead to the world changing and individuals realising that we are all essentially the same,” says Rohit.

Rohit is currently working with AIESEC and he attributes his current views of the world and his initiative to take part in this assembly to his work place. “AIESEC is the biggest student exchange organisation, once I started working with them I met so many people from different countries and the more time I spent with them I began to realise that we may have different countries and different problems but we are all the same when it comes to the important things,” says he.

The UN Youth Assembly will be held from July 31 to August 3 in New York. “I am really looking forward to my visit mainly because it will be an unbelievable exposure,” says the 23-year-old. “This trip to New York needed to be self-funded,so I am currently looking out for sponsors.”

Being selected for this Assembly is a remarkable achievement as only 250 youngsters between the age group of 20 and 25 are called for this assembly from all over the world. This is also an achievement for Jadhav on a more personal level. “I was always an introvert,it was never easy for me to open up and tell people my views. After working with so many exchange students and understanding different cultures as they tried to understand ours,it really opened my eyes to a lot of realities.”

This assembly is an important platform for exchanging ideas and Jadhav feels that it isn’t well-known amongst the youngsters. “I definitely feel that if this awareness about this assembly was increased in colleges,it would give a lot of people a chance to participate because it has a lot of potential,” he says.
