Taking note of the success of the movement to resolve quarrels between villages started by the Maharashtra government,the United Nations has invited Pratap Dighavkar,SP,Pune rural police,for deliveringa speech on the quarrel free village scheme during an international conference in New York between August 9 and 11,2010.
The quarrel free village movement proved extremely successful in Pune district. Between October 2009 and April 2010,quarrels were resolved between 790 villages in the district. The police and government administration managed to solve 37,294 quarrels in Pune district. At a press conference on Friday,Dighavkar said that he recently recieved an invitation via email from authorities of the UN peace committee.
The UN has been studying various movements in the world launched for bringing peace and controling crime. Officials related to these movements are then invited for delivering speeches, he said. Dighavkar is now all set to deliver a speech of 30 minutes on the quarrel free village movement.
