He said that the relative used to spend time with Nadeem, but their relationship had turned sour over the past few months.
Two brothers were shot dead in Northeast Delhi’s Jafrabad on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Police suspect personal enmity to be the motive behind the murders. No arrest has been made yet.
According to a police officer, the incident was reported in the Chauhan Bangar area at 1.40 am. On reaching the spot, it was found that Faizal (31) and his brother Nadeem (33) had been taken to JPC Hospital by family members, where they were declared dead on arrival.
“It was found that a group of four to five men overpowered the two brothers and opened fire on them near their residence. Faizal died on the spot after sustaining multiple bullet injuries,” the officer said.
Police said that the brothers had a personal enmity with a relative over an issue.
Wasim, the elder brother of the deceased, said he spotted their relative among the attackers. “He is our aunt’s son and lives nearby. At the time of the incident, he was present among the attackers. He had earlier threatened us but later reached a compromise in the presence of his parents. Despite that, he killed my brothers,” Wasim alleged.
He said that the relative used to spend time with Nadeem, but their relationship had turned sour over the past few months. “Nadeem was 85% physically challenged and could not walk,” Wasim said.
The police officer said that prima facie, it appears that both groups often fought over supremacy in the area. A case under sections 103(1)/3(5) of the BNS and 25/27 of the Arms Act has been registered at Jafrabad police station, and an investigation has been taken up.
CCTV footage has been collected from the spot, and teams have been deployed to identify the accused persons. The bodies of the deceased are being sent for post-mortem examination.
