Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday said that an industrial training institute or a vocational training centre would be set up in all of the industrial areas coming under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to impart training to local people so that they can be absorbed in the industries.
Speaking after the inauguration of the production of Volkswagen Indias new car Polo in Chakan on Saturday,he said that thrust would be given to industrial development that will also generate employment.
Industries require quality manpower. There is no dearth of it in state,which has enabled the state to emerge as the frontrunner for industrial investment in the country. The growth in infrastructure and industries has to go hand-in-hand and problems pertaining to infrastructure will be solved in time, he said.
Admitting that there is an energy problem in the state,Chavan said that the state government was committed to making the state free from loadshedding in three years.
Our government will provide adequate infrastructure for the growth of the industries. But industrial development should not be lopsided. The new industries should also consider regions such as Vidharba,Konkan and other parts of Marathwada for all-round development of the state, Chavan said.
He said that the need of the industries should synchronise with the quality offered by educational institutions.
Universities and colleges have to be fine-tuned to the requirements of the industry, he added.
German Ambassador Thomas Matussek,State industry minister Rajendra J Darda and Volkswagen management board member Joschem Heizmann also spoke at the function at the Volkswagen plant.
