Traffic diversion for palkhi procession

The traffic control branch has informed the citizens about the temporary changes in traffic that have been made for avoiding congestion during the Palkhi procession of Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar on Wednesday.

Vehicular traffic has been banned from Bopodi chowk to Pune and also from Jehangir hospital to Raja Bahadur Mill. The stretches between Khandobacha Mall to Kamalnayan Bajaj garden chowk and Mariaai chowki to Engineering college chowk on the Pune-Mumbai highway will be closed for traffic.

No vehicles would on the Pune – Ahmednagar would be allowed to travel between Parnakutti chowk to Holkar Bridge. Similarly,vehicles on Solapur Road are banned from going to Circuit house from Bhairbanala chowk. Vehicles going from Solaput to Mumbai would be diverted at Bhairobanala. Vehicular traffic is also banned on the Ganeshkhind road till the Vaikunta Mehta chowk.

Depending upon the time Palkhi reaching the various locations in the city,traffic restrictions would be imposed at Laxmi Road. F C Road,Sancheti hospital chowk,Alka theatre chowk.and Khandoji Baba chowk. No vehicles going from Dighi magazine to Vishrantwadi and Alandi chowk to Holkar Bridge would be diverted. Citizens are appealed to avoid parking vehicles on the Palhi procession route and follow the instructions of police staff on bandobast duty.

The PMC has put a welcome pandals at Kalasgaon,Bopodi and at Kamal Nayan Bajaj Garden at Wakdewadi to welcome the palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram and the devotees in Pune. Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale,deputy mayor Chandrakant Mokate,standing committee chairman Nilesh Nikam and other office bearers would welcome them.
