WITHIN FOUR hours of a 3-year-old girl being reported kidnapped, the Pune City police rescued her from Kalyan Railway Station following a coordinated operation. Probe has revealed that the girl child, the daughter of a construction site supervisor, was kidnapped by two construction workers who had lost their work because of actions by the girl’s father.
On Monday evening, a 26-year-old man approached the Vimantal police station to report that his three-year-old daughter had gone missing. The girl’s father also told the police that he had strong suspicion on two labourers who used to work under him, to be behind the kidnapping of his daughter.
The top brass of the Pune City police was apprised of the situation and two separate teams were formed for investigation of the case and safe rescue of the child.
One team started working on the clues available around the labour camp of MHADA colony in Vimannagar where the girl’s family and the two suspects live. The team obtained crucial leads for the CCTV cameras installed in the area. Meanwhile another team started working with the technical leads obtained from the analysis of the Call Data Records of the cell phones of the suspects. Initial details showed the location of the suspects in Talegaon Dabhade area in Pune district. As the Vimantal police contacted the Talegaon MIDC police station for assistance, the location of the suspects had shifted to Lonavala. Based on the shift in the location, the police found out that the suspects were on a train. One team was sent to Mumbai, assuming that to be the destination of the suspects.
Police investigation further revealed that the suspects were travelling on Indrayani Express. The Railway Police were roped into the rescue operation. The photos of the suspects and the girl were dispatched to all the units of the Railway Police on the possible route of the suspects. In a coordinated operation conducted with the Kalyan Railway Police, the Vimantal police rescued the three year old girl at Kalyan Railway station in Thane district and also arrested the two suspects identified as Prince Sanjay Pal (21) and Omnarayan Chhotelal Paswan (20). Police said that both the suspects hail from Bihar and area from the same area from where the complainant construction supervisor belongs.
“The operation launched for the rescue of the girl was successful and was completed in around four hours. The girl was united with her parents late in the night. Initial probes suggest that the two accused had lost their job due to some action taken by the girl’s father. In revenge, the duo decided to kidnap the girl. The two have been changed with kidnapping and have been remanded to police custody.” said an officer from Vimantal police station.
