The two-day Arties festival,organised by the Poona Music Society,saw pieces of Beethoven,Chopin and Mendelssohn being performed by pianist Shani Diluka,clarinetist Oliver Patey and French cellist Gauthier Herrmann on Monday. The festival,which concludes today,will see the three artistes perform Chopin,Schumann and Louise Farrenc at the Mazda Hall in Camp,7 pm onwards

What’s in a picture?

This is a classic example of how a hobby,when pursued long enough,turns into an exhibition of talent. Captain Vishwas Patwardhan will be displaying photographs at the Balgandharva Kaladalan,at an exhibition titled ‘Around the world in 80 days(h)’. Patwardhan,who works with the Merchant Navy,says,“The name of the exhibition is a play on the novel by Jules Verne,with an ‘H’ added in the end so that it sounds like desh (country). The exhibition features pictures that I have collected over the last 34 years while travelling to different countries.” Featuring a total of 425 photographs from 85 countries Patwardhan,who has already held two exhibitions prior to this one called ‘Sun and Sea’ and ‘Wildlife’ ,feels that the exhibition will give people a chance to look at the lesser known areas of the globe. “Right from an African flea market to an open air wedding in Sri Lanka,the exhibition includes pictures that one would not normally see on a trip abroad.”

Hair Fair

Ccasanova and Studio 101 recently organised a fashion show for the launch of the latter. The event showcased some of the latest hair trends and was choreographed by Sandeep Dharma. Comprising three sequences,the show had models walking the ramp,flaunting the latest in hair trends,colours and cuts. The third sequence however had the clients walk the ramp showcasing new hair dos. The event was attended by Natasha Sethi,Ritika Handa,Bhavna Kothari,Usha and Ashish Chandani,Niru and Ruchi Goyal among others.
