Couple killed by speeding truck
Dastgeer Palkar (49) and his wife Faujia (41) were killed after a speeding trailer hit their two-wheeler from behind on Hadapsar-Saswad Road on Saturday morning. Angry mob blocked the traffic for about an hour after the accident. Mukhtar Yusuf Shaikh,the driver of the trailer carrying a consignment of two-wheelers,was arrested. He is a resident of Bidar in Karnataka. Palkars,residents of Yerawada,were on their way to Saswad for some work.
Leopard skin case: Two held
The Swargate police on Saturday held two persons in a case of possessing leopard hide,which was recovered on October 11. One them,Namdev Kadam (66),is ex-sarpanch of Panhale village in Ratnagiri and the other one,Jaywant Panchal (29),is deputy sarpanch Gunjavane village in Ratnagiri.
