The Max Mueller Bhavan will celebrate German Language Day today with a variety of programmes. The institute will showcase various student activities of its PASCH and BKD/KV schools and institutions of learning for children and youth. The PASCH Programme,a project initiated more than four years ago by the minister of Foreign affairs Germany,formed a network of schools teaching German as a foreign language. In India,47 schools are members of PASCH,out of which nine schools and junior colleges are from Pune. Under its Bildungskooperations Deutsch (BKD) programme,Goethe Institute supports German Language teaching also at places where Goethe Institutes are not situated. As part of this celebration,Max Mueller Bhavan will showcase photo exhibitions on the German connection to the project “Discovery of India” presented by Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME),unique puppet shows,drum circle,school programmes along with panel discussions on diverse topics. Interesting activities such as ‘Toys from Trash’,painting and poster competitions as well as reading from various literary works by K Röggla,and a speech on “Märchen der Brüder Grimm” by Dr K Spinner are lined up. PASCH teachers will be honoured and felicitated for their support and various schools and colleges will be gifted with German books and overhead projectors to facilitate the learning and teaching of the German language.
