The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) witnessed commotion on Thursday when a handful of contractors took control of the tender filing process by not allowing others to submit their proposals.

The civic administration had set Thursday as the deadline to file tenders for works with estimated expenses up to Rs 15 crore. The tenders were to be submitted at the Tilak Road ward office.

The PMC had floated 204 tenders for works at Hadapsar and Bibvewadi.

The tension forced the civic administration to call in its security personnel to take control of the situation. The civic body has now extended the deadline to submit the proposals by three days.

A few months ago, contractors, along with some elected representatives, had tried to take control of the tender process and stop others from filing proposals.
