Jaytech believes that individuality and innovation are the two most important things that any DJ needs to bring to the table to be successful
Having performed at some of the swankiest nightclubs across the world, his works come across as a refreshing change from the usual lacklusture works that one hears DJs scratch up on the turntables. And while he himself is a huge believer of the fact that creativity is a necessary tool in the world of the spinning tables,to keep audiences interested and rocking the dance floors,Australian born James Cayzer aka DJ Jaytech feels that it is the originality of a DJ that separates him from the rest of the crowd.
I saw my first DJ performance when I was a 14 year old teenager and the entire feel of seeing the guy on the tables, scratch the discs and make the audiences groove had a scintillating effect of sorts on me,and I realised that this was what I had to do. By the next week onwards I had already started working on my own productions, says Jaytech about his early beginnings.
His first production Music 101 was the promising start that he needed and helped him achieve international recognition. Even though at that time,my school exams back home in Canberra, were a priority,I managed to not only hone my classical music skills, but also sneaked out time to put in a few hours of music programming during the wee hours of the morning, he says.
Some of his acclaimed works include releases like Genesis,Spacelift and Pepes Garden which has found rave reviews from people like Armin Van Buuren. In the city for his maiden performance on Thursday,at the Stone Water Grill,Jaytech feels that the audiences in Pune are never afraid to experiment with new styles of music. And while he is not up to his spinning and scratching best,he does have an interesting list of genres of music that help him relax. Melodic music, down tempo,or other electronic styles and house music just help me calm my frayed nerves whenever I am up working too hard. Listening to music that inspires me always has a soothing effect whenever I feel exhausted, he adds.
And while writing, producing, performing live are all tasks that he performs with the finesse of a gymnast,Jaytech does mention that it is the creative drive behind all of it that keeps him running. He says,Writing music, organising tours and working on self-promotion is a full time job in itself,so I make sure to keep working while I am on the road,in airports and so forth. Besides when you like what you do you really dont care about the time you spend doing it. I think it is this drive combined with the creativity and innovation that is very important and keeps me moving along.
And while his playlist includes a wide range of cities across the globe Jaytech feels that more than anything else he just wants to see people have fun and walk out of the dance floors with a smile on their faces. Whether that happens by listening to my music on the Internet or coming to my shows I dont really care. As long as my music conveys my emotions to the people,I am satisfied. And I really want to keep on doing that, he says on a parting note.
