In the acting circuit,Mita Vasisht is known to essay roles with ease and also get under the skin of the character with the finesse of a trapeze artiste. It is only fitting then that she will now don the hat of the head of department (HOD) of the acting department at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Vasisht, who has been in films such as Dil Se,Ghulam and English August amongst others,is an alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD). She has also been a visiting faculty at premier national institutes such as the National Institute of Fashion Technology (Delhi),NSD (Delhi) and National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad) and a visiting faculty member at FTII.
Vasisht takes over from K Chandramohan Nair, the former HOD of the acting division. The Director of the institute,DJ Narain says that getting her on board is a very good thing for the institute. She has acted in films made by student directors. And she is well-versed with the place, he says.
