The city unit of the Congress on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the district collector seeking stern action against Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to create a law and order problem in the city.
Congress city unit president Abhay Chhajed forwarded the letter that states,The state government should take cognizance of this offence as it is a serious crime to invoke violence,call a bandh in the state and cause damage to property.
Resident Deputy Collector Anil Pawar confirmed the memorandum had been received. The collector will decide on the course of action, he said.
The memorandum comes in the wake of a complaint lodged against Shiv Sena leaders alleging a conspiracy to create law and order problems. BJP and Shiv Sena had called for a shutdown on Tuesday over the shifting of the statue of Dadoji Konddeo from Lal Mahal.
On Tuesday,activists had torched 13 buses and disrupted traffic on the Mumbai-Pune highway.
The police had booked Gorhe and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackerays PA Mohan Narvekar,reportedly after tapping their phones.
