The CID-Pune unit has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the murder case of Rahul Nair (25). The crime had taken place on the Shivajinagar court premises on May 6,2010. The chargesheet has been filed against Sachin Chandrakant Dangat (28),Sukesh Suresh Dangat (28) and Umesh Ashok Deshmukh (24),who were absconding for more than a year after the incident until they were arrested on August 30 this year.
Sachin Dangat had submitted to the court that he was under medical treatment and that he was not present in the court when the murder took place. However,an offence of cheating and forgery has been registered against him after Dangat allegedly submitted a fake medical certificate to prove his alibi.
Nair’s mother Shamala Nair had filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court for transferring the probe to Criminal Investigation Department (CID)- Pune unit as the Pune police had failed to arrest these absconding suspects.
The trio has been charged under Sections 302 (murder),143 (unlawful assembly),147 (rioting),148 (rioting,armed with deadly weapon),149 (unlawful assembly guilty; of offence committed with common object) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The supplementary chargesheet names 10 witnesses in the case and reports seizure of one knife and one Innova car.
