Vijaya Tecksingani crowned national champion
Punes Vijaya Tecksingani was crowned the womens national champion in the Goa National Ranking Darts Championship. Tecksingani defeated West Bengals Jolly Chanda in the finals of the competition. The mens title was won by West Bengals Arnab Raha. Tecksingani then teamed up with another Bengali,Sumit Mitra,in the mixed doubles event and progressed to the finals of the event. However,the duo of Mitra and Tecksingani was forced to taste defeat in the summit clash,as Arnab Raha and Jolly Chanda proved too strong a challenge.
Gosavi clinches bronze
Hurdler Ankita Gosavi won the bronze in the 100m hurdles at the Asian School track and field championship at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Saturday. The 16-year-old Gosavi,who was given a special entry into the championship by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) after a confident performance at the youth Asiad in Nanjing,had no problems in clearing the senior height of 84 cm as opposed to the youth mark of 76 cm. Gosavi clocked a time of 15.01 seconds to clinch third place.
India-Aus tickets on sale from today
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) will open the physical sale of tickets for the forthcoming India-Australia One Day International to be held at the MCA International Cricket Stadium,Gahunje from Sunday,September 22,2013. Beginning Sunday,three centres – the PYC Hindu Gymkhana,off Bhandarkar Road; the Deccan Gymkhana Club and the MCA International Cricket Stadium,Gahunje will open to simultaneous sales between 10 am and 6 pm. Tickets at all three centres can be bought by cash or credit card. On Sunday,the MCA will also throw open the West Stand ticket sales,which was not open for online sale.

The SA Poonawalla Multi Million,a grade 2 race which is run over a mile,is one of the most lucrative races of the season. The winner will be offered a prize purse of more than Rs 1.2 million. The 2012 SA Poonawalla Multi Million was won by Neona,owned by Jaydev Mody and ridden by A Sandesh.
