Deshmukh in ITF Asian u-14 team
* Sahil Deshmukh has been selected in the Asian under-14 team to represent Asia in ITF tournaments to be played in Europe in July. The 13-year-old student of the Lexicon school,who was supported by Bharat Forge for training at the Nick Bolletori Academy,in the US in the latter part of last year proved his mettle winning an ITF 14 Asian Championship singles title in the first tournament and finishing runner up in singles and doubles event at the Pusat Tennis Kemayoran Tennis Centre in Jakarta,Indonesia. Sahil who is also part of the MSLTA Vision programme becomes the second player under coach Sandip Kirtane at Deccan Gymkhana to find a place in the ITF Asian touring team. Last year Rutuja Bhosale had made it to the Asian team.
Cycling Treasure Hunt on Sunday at PYC
* MG’s sports and fitness and PYC will be organizing the Cycling Treasure Hunt’ on Sunday the 17th April at 6 am from PYC Hindu Gymkhana,Pune. The event is open for all and sponsored by BU bhandari,Volskwagen pune west,Lifecycle mall. The event will start from PYC Gymkhana at 6 am. The event will be conducted in the team format with 3 members in each team. The event is divided in two groups – 35 kms for cycling professionals and 20 km’s for amateur men and women above 15 years of age. All participants will search for clues given to them on cycles.The team that collects all clues first will be declared the winner. Participants will have to get their own cycles and carrying a cycling helmet is compulsory. The event carry cash prize of Rs 20,000 and gift vouchers.
MCA scouting for new umpires
* Maharashtra Cricket Association is looking for fresh,young and dynamic cricket umpires for their local league matches. MCA will be conducting an Umpiring Course and exam for the same. The candidate must be between aged between 20 to 35 years and have educational qualification of 12th Std. Those who are studying will be also considered. Pune Warriors India conduct road show
* IPL franchise Pune Warriors India conducted a two-day road show ahead of their debut at the fourth edition of the IPL which begins on Friday. They will play their first match on Sunday. The road show was conducted on the streets of Vimannagar,Kalyaninagar and Yerawada on the first day and Bibwewadi,Kondhwa and Fatimanagar on the second day. Puneri Dhol players,Pune Warriors India horse riders,Tutari players,Lezim dancers,and Govindas in human pyramids were the highlights of the show.
