Splashing in Style

It's not easy being a fashionista when it’s pouring outside. The rains force one to opt for ‘sensible’ shoes and this inevitably means a style sacrifice, unless one can afford Chanel’s jelly shoes.

It’s not easy being a fashionista when it’s pouring outside. The rains force one to opt for ‘sensible’ shoes and this inevitably means a style sacrifice, unless one can afford Chanel’s jelly shoes. Luckily for Mumbai’s style mavens there’s a new option, thanks to city-based store,Bungalow 8,which has launched a new limited edition line of shoes, especially for the monsoons. Made in collaboration with AKA Bespoke,an accessories label by Mumbai-based designer,Ateev Anand, the shoes are available in 10 styles, ranging from brogues to gladiators to Cuban heels. Made of PVC,lycra and leathers, the shoes are available in bright colours. Maithili Ahluwalia,Creative Director,Bungalow 8,says,“Our new collection of women’s footwear blends the colours of India with modern forms and represents the best of global-local style.”

This is not the first time that Ahluwalia has collaborated with AKA Bespoke, having previously created a menswear line in April, this year. She says,“It’s not just the style and the colours that will attract people; each shoe is handcrafted and has it’s own unique beauty. And since it’s a limited edition, our customers can be rest assured that their shoes won’t appear on every pair of feet,” she says. The monsoon collection has clearly tapped into a ready and waiting market, since many pairs have already been sold. “The collection has done well. We’re now looking forward to our next collaboration with AKA Bespoke, for a line of festive shoes,” she says.
